Guinness Challenge, Irish Dancers and Irish Bands to Highlight Event

New Orleans – (March 7, 2018) The Shamrockin’ Run New Orleans 8K road race on Sunday, March 18, 2018 is changing its course and is now approved to start and finish the event from Audubon Park. This 8K (4.97 mile) road race will start in Audubon Park along Magazine Street, toward Napoleon Avenue along Prytania Street before making a U-turn returning to Audubon Park.

“We always look for creative ways to provide runners with a superior on course experience,” stated Race Director and Owner of Premier Event Management, Bill Burke. “The event will continue to offer all the same great things that have made it fun for our runners such as the Guinness Challenge, Irish Bands on course, Irish Dancers at the start, free parking plus of course, the Ireland National anthem and the US National Anthem will both be sung at the starting line,” stated Burke.

The 2018 Shamrockin’ Run 8K will continue to highlight the Guinness Challenge which is limited to only 300 men and 300 women. Runners will be required to pull off course at each mile mark and drink a 4 oz. cup of Guinness beer before moving to the next station along the route. The top five male and top five female competitors to finish the event with all certifications in place from each station will split the $1,600.00 prize purse and each receive a case of Guinness beer.

Parking is limited in Audubon Park and runners are highly encouraged to arrive early for the 8:30am start time. Additional parking can be found in the surrounding neighborhoods around Audubon Park. Please do not park near private driveways on race morning as your car will be towed from that residential location.
